Burt Hillman
Burt Hillman passed away February 19, 2013 from a lengthy illness.
He was born in Los Angeles, CA in April 1936. Burt enlisted in the Air Force in June 1953 through 1963 and served in England, Iceland, France, Japan, George AFB and Vandenberg AFB.
Burt married Verla Koyle in may 1963. He was a tool pusher for Pool, Well Tech, G & O Production and others for 20 years. He served for a short time as Post Commander at Post 534 in 2002.
Burt is preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Smee Tate; father, Muril Hillman; sisters, Velma Blare and Mary Brock and brother, Muril Hillman. He is also preceded by his daughter, Debra Oberly.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years; sons, Burt & Louise Hillman, Johnny & Elaine Koyle and daughter, Rae El Thompson; grandchildren, William Davis, Nathan Oberly, Joel Koyle, Kaitlin Thompson, Ethan Thompson and Kaylee Hillman; sister, Betty Fraiser of Arizona, and several nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and great nephews.
Burt loved to fish and camp, and in his younger days bowling and gardening. He had a green thumb that wouldn't quit. He loved to talk politics, tell jokes & loved his Chihuahuas, Shadow, Tadpole and Termite. Burt read every bit of news from online to TV and newspaper and was current on all news from around the world.
Burt was a real diamond in the rough and was playfully called a "knuckle head" and "old man" by his children and grandchildren.
He never met a stranger. He will be missed.
A memorial service will be held at American Legion Post 534 at a later date.
