Jack McCrea Frazier
1941 - 2024
Jack McCrea Frazier, Age 83, of Santa Maria passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 8th. 2024.
Jack was born on January 22, 1941 in Belleville, Arkansas to Norma and Sydney Frazier. The family moved to New Mexico, and finally to Guadalupe, California in 1951 where he attended Guadalupe Grammar School, and later Santa Maria High School while working on the family farm. Jack enjoyed sports, and played baseball, and later played football for the Santa Maria Saints football team.
Upon graduation in 1959, Jack worked for Mel Dodge Masonry until enlisting in the Army. Jack was stationed in Germany from 1961-1963. Upon receiving his honorable discharge, he went to work for Santa Maria Glass & Mirror Co. until eventually becoming co-owner with his lifelong friend Dale Iliff. In 1984, Jack decided to establish his own company, and opened Los Padres Glass & Mirror Co, which he ran until he retired in 2010.
Jack's passion for outdoor activities led him to many lifelong friendships and wonderful memories of Camping, riding dirt bikes, dune buggies at the beach, fishing, and antique/classic cars. He is a former member of the Bent Axles car club, the Fun Bugs dune bug club, Elks, and many other community organizations. If he wasn't camping and off-roading at the Oceano Dunes, he was fishing with his father, or camping with family and friends. His passion for the outdoors was passed on to all that knew him.
Jack leaves behind a legacy of lifelong friendships and family. He was preceded in death by his parents Norma and Sydney Frazier. He is survived by his sister Sherry (Ron) Mideiros, his children Stephanie, Michael (Yvon), Chad, Greg, and Sydney and their families. He will be greatly missed by his sister, his nephews Ron and Curt Mideiros, children, 9 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
Jack's generosity, easy going manner, humor, and friendship had a lasting impact on all that knew him. He was trusting to a fault, and always ready to help others in need. He is and will be remembered fondly by those whose lives were touched by him. A funny story (or a long story short) was always on tap when you saw him.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 16th at 10:00am in the older section of the Santa Maria Cemetery with a reception to immediately follow.
