June 9, 1960 - February 13, 2023
Robert "Bob " Chase, 62, of Santa Maria, died peacefully at home on February 13, 2023, following a long battle with cancer. Bob was first diagnosed in 1997 and treated successfully at City of Hope in Duarte. He lived cancer free for 23 years until it recurred in 2020. Bob battled cancer with courage and positivity. He was known as the "chemo comedian " at Mission Hope Cancer Center and made sure that the nurses, doctors and other patients had the opportunity to smile and laugh, even through tough times.
Bob is survived by his wife of 31 years, Linda (Cruzen) Chase of Santa Maria; three brothers: Charles Chase of Alabama, James (Stephanie) Chase of Georgia and Troy Chase of Nevada; his mother-in-law, Twila Cruzen of Visalia, CA; and his brother-in-law, Roger Cruzen (Lydia Morley) of Grover Beach, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles "Pete" Chase and Lois Chase and a sister, Pamela Chase. He will be missed by his nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at 1 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church, 605 E. McCoy. Cremation has taken place through Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary and Crematorium.
Contributions may be made in Bob's name to Grace Baptist Church, Santa Maria, CA or the Pediatric Cancer Department of City of Hope, Duarte, CA (ourhope.cityofhope.org).
