Peter DelVecchio Obituary

Peter Joseph DelVecchio, affectionately known as Bud or Pete, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his close family, on February 25, 2022. Pete was born and raised in Saratoga Springs, NY, and spent much of his life there. Upon retirement in 2006, he moved with his wife, Pam, to The Villages, Florida, where they found much happiness and made wonderful friends. He worked as an optician for many years, and he even had his own optical business before relocating to Florida.Pete is survived by his devoted wife, Pam DelVecchio, his adoring daughter, Kimberly DelVecchio, and son-in-law, Randy Cale. He also leaves behind a sister, Theresa D’andrea, and his fur baby, Hanu.Pete was known and appreciated as the family cook, and he loved five things most in life: his family, his dogs, his pipe, his Westerns, and his books (not necessarily in that order).Pete was a kind, honest and loving man who will forever be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His friends will remember his uncanny honesty, which was usually delivered with a closing grin that made others burst into laughter. Behind that unfiltered presence was an unrelenting concern and attention to his family and friends. Never requiring or asking for appreciation, he would selflessly prepare, serve and provide for those he loved with never a complaint or negative comment. If the measure of a man’s life were to be living life on your own terms, then Pete lived the most full and abundant life possible. The blessing for those of us who knew and loved him is that one of his ‘terms’ was to love and provide with quiet, persistent ease…even if he was in pain. We will miss him more than these words can convey. Thank you, Pete…for being perfectly, beautifully, and graciously what this small world needed. Know that you are loved…eternally. A celebration of life gathering will be held in The Villages, FL, on April 2nd at the Churchill Street Village Recreation Center in the Lindsey Paddock Room from 3:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. https://www.lastingmemories.com/peter-joseph-delvecchio
