Richard Oliver Obituary
He was born April 24, 1953, in Saratoga Springs to the late Charles R. and Violet M. Oliver of Saratoga Springs.
Richard served in the U.S. Navy from 1971 to 1978 on the USS Eisenhower. He was also a Saratoga Springs firefighter from 1986 to 2004, when he retired.
He enjoyed riding his Harley and spending time with his family and friends. Richard was also involved with the American Legion in Tampa, Fla., doing different charitable events.
Richard was predeceased by his father, Charles Oliver; his mother, Violet Oliver; his brother, Charles J. Oliver; his sisters, Mary Oliver-Bradley and Joyce E. Oliver; his brother-in-law, Ernest Wren; and son-in-law David Zabielski, all of Saratoga Springs.
Richard is survived by his wife, Becky Oliver of Palm Harbor, Fla.; his children, Melissa Oliver-Zabielski of Saratoga Springs, Katie Oliver-Garmley (Greg) of Schuylerville, Richard Oliver Jr. (Julie) of Pingree Grove, Ill., and Lyndsey Brown of Palm Harbor, Fla.; his grandchildren, Brendan, Jaime, Dalton, Riley, Khyler, Kyerra and Jennah; his sister, Wanda Wren; and his brother, Jesse Oliver; along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial will be planned at the American Legion in Saratoga Springs at a later date.
The family asks that all donations be made in memory of Richard Oliver Sr. to St. Peters ALS Regional Center, 315 S. Manning Blvd., Albany NY 12208.

Becky, Jesse, Wanda, Melissa and all in the extended Oliver family,
We are more than sorry to hear about Rick and the ongoing family battles with ALS. You all have had more that enough sorry, yet his peace and comfort is important.
He's now with the ones that have been here and through those difficult times.
A friend to many, I always enjoyed his humor and stories about town and the many people that grew up in this city. His memory brings a smile to everyone's face and that's a great legacy.
You are each in our thoughts and prayers and know that others share your loss. May he rest in peace.
