Forrest Shoemaker Obituary

Forrest Hilton Shoemaker, 85, of Savannah, Georgia, husband of Flora Jacobs Shoemaker, died Tuesday morning, June 7, 2005, at Hospice Savannah. Born in Valdosta, Georgia, he was a son of the late Ed Shoemaker and Ida Rogers Shoemaker. Mr. Shoemaker was a member of White Bluff United Methodist Church and retired after 25 years of service as division manager for Field Enterprises Educational Corporation. He was a terrific husband and father who loved people and was beloved by people. Throughout his life, he was an avid golfer and tennis player. Mr. Shoemaker was a United States Army veteran having served in World War II. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Flora Jacobs Shoemaker; two daughters, Kay Shoemaker and Sandy Shoemaker, both of Savannah, Georgia; two sons, Craig Shoemaker of Savannah, Georgia and Forrest Shoemaker of Honolulu, Hawaii; one brother, Vernon Shoemaker of Waycross, Georgia; four grandchildren, Tommy Sherrod, Myriah Fitts, Heat her Shoemaker and Holly Shoemaker, and two great -grandchildren, Darean Sherrod and Zane Sherrod. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue. Funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend Dr. Wayne E. Moseley. Interment will be in private.
