Margaret Jones Dorsey

Margaret Jones Dorsey (Peggy), 86 died peacefully on September 28, 2017, in Stockbridge, GA.

Peggy was born in Savannah on March 25, 1931 and was the daughter of John Brinkley Jones and Marjorie Waters Jones. She was a graduate of Savannah High School. Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, George Edward Dorsey, brother John Wright Jones, sister Carolyn Jones King and son, Timothy Lee Dorsey.

She is survived by her sons, Stephen Edward Dorsey (Sharon) and Dennis Brinkley Dorsey, a granddaughter Julia Virginia Dorsey, grandsons Jonathan Lee Dorsey and Alex Brinkley Dorsey, niece Karen Ann King and two nephews, Michael Robert King and Dr. John Paul Jones, and brother in law Francis Robert King and sister in law Viona Szabo Jones.

Peggy was a lifelong member of Cresthill Baptist Church. She dedicated her life to her husband and raising her three boys. She is remembered as a wife, loving mother, great neighbor, talented hobby seamstress, and as an expert in the culinary art of southern cuisine. She had the charming effect of a true southern belle and was always a helping hand to those less fortunate.

Peggy was well traveled but preferred to spend her afternoons at Tybee Island reading a good book.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a gathering and lunch at the residence of Dennis Dorsey, 1226 Wilmington Island Road following the service.
