Dimitrios Avramidis Obituary

DIMITRIOS ANGELO "JIM" AVRAMIDIS Oct. 26, 1923 - May 27, 2008 Dimitrios Angelo "Jim" Avramidis, 84, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on May 27, 2008, at home, in Rialto. Dimitrios died peacefully and was surrounded by his loving family. Dimitrios was born on October 26, 1923, in Loussika, Greece, to Rallou and Angelo Avramidis. Along with his family, he lived in Patras, Greece, before migrating to the United States in 196 3 so to provide a better life for his wife and children. A devoted parishioner of the Greek Orthodox Church Saint Prophet Elias in San Bernardino, he served for many years with AHEPA, promoting Hellenism, education, philanthropy, civic responsibility, and family. Dimitrios enjoyed spending an enormous amount of time fishing and camping with his family, a tradition that is still carried on today through his children and grandchildren. Dimitrios is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Akaterini Avramidis ; daughters, Georgia Gastouniotis and Rallou Chronopoulos; sons, Angelo Avramidis and Michael Avramidis. Dimitrios is also survived by 9 grandchildren; one great grandson; and yet another great grandson soon to be born, as well as many other dear friends and family members. Friends may visit between 5:00-8:00 P.M. Sunday, June 1, at Mt. View Memorial Chapel, with the Trisagion Service at 7:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be held at Saint Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church, 1035 Inland Center Dr., San Berna rdino, on June 2 at 11:00 A.M. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Hospice for the care and support received. In lieu of flowers and in Dimitrios' typical fashion, donations may be sent to Saint Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church in the name of Dimitrios Avramidis.
