Bernice E. Singmaster

1937 - 2022

Bernice E. (Pennypacker) Singmaster, 84, of Ashland, passed away Saturday evening at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill E. Norwegian Street, Pottsville.

She was born March 25, 1937, in Helfenstein, and was a daughter of the late Beatrice (Maurer) and Charles Pennypacker.

Bernice was a graduate of Ashland High School, Class of 1955. She also attended Penn State Schuylkill campus.

She was a dedicated member of Lavelle Church of the Nazarene, where she served as a pianist.

She was the loving wife of the late Richard L. Singmaster, who passed away in 2014.

Bernice, along with her late husband, were the proprietors of Dick's Tire Service and Creative Printing in Ashland, where she served as a business manager.

Bernice was the beloved Gma to her three grandchildren.

Her hobbies included music, tennis, skiing and travel.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Richard C. Singmaster, in 2009.

Bernice is survived by her son's wife, Mitzi Singmaster, Norristown; granddaughter, Taylor Shepard, wife of Jacob, San Francisco, Calif.; granddaughter, Devon Singmaster, Broomfield, Colo.; grandson, Conner Singmaster, Norristown; aunt, Esther Wetzel, Helfenstein.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. April 2 at Lavelle Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Jeremy Smallwood officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church. Interment will take place in Christ Church Cemetery, Fountain Springs, following services.
