Lawrence M. Farrone, 48, of Drums, passed away Monday, Jan. 31, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
He was born in Dover, N.J., a son of Beth Lynn (Trout) Farrone, Ashland, and Lawrence M. Farrone Sr., of Lavelle.
He was a member of St. John Bosco Church, Conyngham.
He was a graduate of North Schuylkill High School, where he played varsity basketball.
Larry was active in coaching basketball for Holy Family Academy, CVCO and Pal. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and 76ers fan.
His most recent accomplishment, which his entire family was proud of, was opening Sammy's Family Golf and Axes-A-Holics in 2019, a family business that he ran with his wife and son.
He is survived, in addition to his parents, by his wife, the former Shannon Dowd; his proudest accomplishment, his son, Sam, with whom he enjoyed fishing, watching Star Wars and many activities that he participated with him; his stepmother, Sandy Joe Farrone, Lavelle; maternal grandmother, Mary Jane Gerhard, Quakake; the following brothers and sister, Jennifer Stack, Hershey, Kevin Farrone, Frackville, and Matthew Farrone, Ashland; several nieces and nephews and also his faithful companion, Buddy.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John Bosco Church, Conyngham, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment to follow in St. Mauritius Cemetery, Ashland. Friends and relatives may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Frank J. Bonin Funeral Home Inc., 542 N. Wyoming St., Hazleton.
