As much as a teacher could be loved and revered, I loved and revered David Coffin. I was his student during my years at Exeter (class of 86) In a tough academic department, he was the kindest, gentlest soul. To this day my fellow alumni and I talk about him with awe and reverence. He left an enduring legacy not just of passion for scholarship but of the development of strong character. God bless. He will be missed but always remembered.
