Cecelia Bowers Obituary

Cecelia BOWERS 1917 - 2004 Passed away peacefully on July 2nd. She was born on March 7 in Portland, Oregon to Mary and Jeremiah Moriarty, attended Parkrose High School and graduated from Marylhurst College earning a BS in Biology. Cecelia moved to Seattle in 1938 to intern at Harborview Hospital as a medical technologist, she later worked at Doctor's Hospital and Swedish Hospital in a career that lasted into the 1990's. An avid reader, she first read about the correlation of smoking and cancer in the late 30's and early 40's. She was an active member of the Haller Lake Community Club, enjoyed gardening, sewing and reading-especially scientific and practical information. She married Harold Bowers in 1943. After Harold's passing in 1963, she raised their children, Christopher, Margra (Shelley) and Gregory, and helped them through college. She bragged about them and her grandchildren, Joseph, Benjamin and Christopher Shelley, Michael and Logan Bowers. Her sister, Mary Elizabeth Sutherland, lives in Portland, OR. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. Hoffner Fisher & Harvey Remembrances may be made to Marylhurst University, 17600 Pacific Highway, P. O. Box 261, Marylhurst, OR 97036.

Ceciles husband and I worked together at two different jobs. She was a very sweet lady. She paid her respects when my 3rd wife passed away.
