Harry Anderson Obituary

Harry J. ANDERSON, M.D. Harry Joseph Anderson was born Sept. 11, 1921 in North Branch, MN to Harry and Olive (Johnson) Anderson. He died Dec. 25, 2003 at Northwest Hospital, after a long illness. He graduated from the University of Minnesota Medical School in 1945 and interned at Tacoma General Hospital. He served in the U.S. Army at Frankfurt General Hospital in Germany. He completed his Psychiatric residency at the University of Minnesota and Minneapolis Veteran's Hospital in 1951. He then moved to Seattle where he became the first Acting Chief of Psychiatry at the then, new, Seattle Veteran's Hospital. He was recalled into the Army during the Korean Conflict, and served at Camp Polk, LA for several months until the ceasefire. He had a psychiatric practice in Seattle for thirty years. He is survived by Darlene, his wife of 55 years; his daughter Pamela Hamilton (John) and grandsons Ian and Sean; his son Scott (Susan) and granddaughters Katrina and Kristin; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Jeffery, his parents, his brother Donald and twin sister Harriet Juergens. A memorial service will be held on Jan. 10, 2004 at 2:00 pm at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, 13047 Greenwood Ave N., Seattle, WA 98133. I lived next door to Harry and Darlene briefly, at my parents' home. Harry was a good listener and lots of fun to talk with. I enjoyed several conversations with him and his family over several years. My thoughts are with you all at this time of loss.
