Kazuo Kumasaka Obituary

Kazuo KUMASAKA Age 83. Born February 4, 1927 in Seattle, Washington. Died November 18, 2010. Predeceased by parents George Shichiro and Fusano, brother Tatsuo Tad and sister June Junko. Survived by brother Henry (Janice), niece Kerri, and nephews Kyle (Debra), Koby (Nancy), and Kory (Therese) and their children. Model airplane enthusiast in youth, attended high school during WWII internment with family, granted scholarship to North Manchester College in Indiana, served in U. S. Army Air Corps/Air Force, and later graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Tau Beta Pi (Engineering Honor Society) from the University of Washington with an M.S. in Aeronautical Engineering. Quiet and unassuming, Kaz worked proudly as a Boeing engineer for over forty years. Specializing in Loads and Structures, he initially worked in the Military and Aerospace Divisions on the B-52, B-70, X-20 Dynasoar, and SST programs. In 1965 he joined the Commercial Airplane Division to work on 707, 727, and 737 programs, and retired in 1995. Private services were held. Memorial donations to The Museum of Flight, 9404 E.
