Samuel Shinozaki Obituary

Samuel Hideo Shinozaki

Samuel Hideo Shinozaki passed away on December 28, 2016, at the age of 88. He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Elaine Yukiko Shinozaki, and his siblings: Sumi S. Horrell, Addie Kuge, Elva Matsumoto, Mary Shinozaki, and Harry Shinozaki. He is survived by his sister, Betty Iwata and his daughter, Gale Shinozaki, his son-in-law, Mark Schroeder and his only grandchild, Allison Schroeder. Sam also has many nieces and nephews across the mainland and Hawaii.

Sam was born in Discovery Bay, Washington on a farm. He spent his childhood living the idyllic farm boy life on the Olympic Peninsula. He then relocated with his family during WWII to Tule Lake. He served in the army in the Midwest. He attended Carroll College and graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a bachelor's degree in Accounting.

He married Elaine Yukiko Uchida, a Hawaiian girl in 1951, and settled down in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Their daughter, Gale, was born in Milwaukee. In 1965, he moved the family to Seattle. Sam's adeptness with numbers built him a career in accounting and finance, working for Sedlett Plumbing in Milwaukee, Clark Equipment in Seattle, and Hillhaven Corporation in Tacoma where he retired as Vice President and Treasurer. He was very interested in finance and was a successful investor.

A private family service interring his ashes was held on February 6,

2016. Please, no flowers. Donations may be sent in Sam's name to Keiro Northwest.
