Curtis Gooch
BOLIVAR — Curtis Gooch, 53, of Bolivar, MO passed away Friday, July 21, 2017 at his home.
Curtis was born on October 15, 1963 to Frank and Patsy Starcher Gooch. From an early age, Curtis was always a hard worker. His first jobs, working on the family farm, mowing lawns and working at the gas station, brought him compliments from everyone. His friends remembered him as not only hard-working, but also the moral compass of their group, with a strong sense of right and wrong and a selfless attitude. Curtis achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in 1981.
On August 17, 1991, Curtis married the love of his life, Vicky Baker. They formed a life together based on the love they had for each other and the love they shared for Christ. Throughout their life together, Curtis exemplified Christian strength and love. Faith has always been a firm foundation of his life since being baptized on May 10, 1970. With this foundation he strove to serve the Lord daily by loving and helping others.
For many years, Curtis' job as a resource conservationist meant moving around the state. The family would live in Milan, Warrensburg, Warrenton and eventually settled in Bolivar. The family planted firm roots in Bolivar, and Curtis took an active role in doing so. He coached his kids as often as he could, regardless of his knowledge of the given sport. If he didn't know how to do something, he knew he could learn.
Curtis was an incredibly gifted handy-man. After buying the family house 17 years ago, it has been in a perpetual state of renovation. The downstairs garage was turned into a family room. An entire sun room and a two car garage was added on. He loved spending his down time fixing something up or building something new. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and son, whose life will always be cherished by those that he touched.
Curtis is survived by his wife, Vicky Gooch, his children, Aaron Clark and wife Rachel of Bolivar, MO, Cara Gooch of Centerton, AR, Aric Gooch of Bolivar, MO, and Carissa Gooch of Bolivar, MO. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Grace, Logan, David, Kale, Faith and Lily, his parents, Frank and Patsy Gooch of Sedalia, MO and his brother Rodney Gooch, niece Micah McDaniel and nephew JD Gooch from Texas.
