Steve Bridges Obituary
He was born Jan. 20, 1948, in Sedalia, a son of the late Steve H. and Sylvia Marie (Phelps) Sanchez Jr.
He was raised in Sedalia. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army 1965-1968 during the Vietnam War receiving the National Defense Service Medal and qualified as a Sharpshooter. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Central Missouri State University (now UCM). He owned and operated Construction Systems Group (CSG) in Kansas City, retiring in 2005.
In his younger years, he obtained his pilot's license and enjoyed that part of his life. He also enjoyed rebuilding classic cars.
Survivors include two children, Stephen Bridges, and Lauretta Richtermeyer, both of Kansas City, MO; a brother, Chris Semkin (Suann), of Kansas City, MO; two sisters, Linda Cairer (John), of Oak Grove, and Cindee Vaughan (Tim), of Harper, TX; and a grandson, Aiden Bridges, of Columbia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sylvia Marie "Rita" Warren, and an uncle, Edgar Lee Phelps Jr.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020, at St. Patrick Church in Sedalia with Father David Veit officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the U.S. Army, VFW Post 2591 and the Patriot Guard Riders.
Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Vincent de Paul Parish.
Arrangements are under the direction of Heckart Funeral Home.
