Bruce Collins passed away peacefully with family by his side on December 20, 2016, at the age of 64. Bruce was born on June 3, 1952 in San Mateo to parents Robert and Emilia Collins. His grandparents Hazel and Augustine Terragno were very active in his childhood. Bruce graduated from South San Francisco High School in 1970 and excelled as a baseball pitcher. He was drafted by the LA Dodgers in 1970. Bruce married Janice Ackley in 1974 and welcomed two daughters to the family. He worked as a teamster for Gallo Wine for over 35 years. Bruce loved sports and engaging in conversation wherever he went.A long-term resident of the SF Bay Area, Bruce leaves behind his beloved mother Emilia Collins, brother Bob Collins, daughters Jacqueline Collins and Kari Collins, sister-in-law Joy Collins, daughter-in-law Trisha Bradford, Grandson Chance Robert Bradford-Collins, niece Tara Collins, long-term partner Linda Rovai and her two children, Brittany and Ryan Pickett.
Bruce will be greatly missed by his family and friends and will be remembered for his charm, wit, big heart, and love for people. He adored his family, was proud of his daughters, and loved his Grandson. He enjoyed cooking, going to the gym, spending time with his dogs, meeting perfect strangers, and making jokes. Bruce had an amazing gift to connect with people. The family would like to thank the SSF Kaiser Permanente Team for their care efforts. A private service will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at Holy Cross Cemetery where Bruce will be laid to rest with his Father Robert Collins. Donations in Bruce's memory can be made to the American Cancer Society or the SPCA, as he had a deep love for animals.

My sincerest condolences to the Collins Family. I have nothing but fond memories and admiration for Bruce. I played baseball with and against him and it was better to be on his team. He had a blazing fast ball and pin point control. I remember him having ice in his veins on the mound but off the mound he was warm and friendly to everyone and was loved by all.
