Charlie Burkett provided guidance and direction to many S. P. officers including me dealing with a wide variety of business issues. Charlie always had a pleasant attitude, a good sense of humor and an ability to progress necessary work on a most pleasant and positive basis. Charlie was a statesman - one of the few.

I fondly remember Charlie, having worked with him many years at Southern Pacific. I was one of his cost witnesses in the many regulatory proceedings he ws involved with both in California and in Washington DC. Charlie had a keen sense of humor along with his brilliant mind. A wonderful man.
