Christine Canty Memoriam
5/22/1952-8/12/2024
Christine Robin Canty passed on August 12, 2024, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Christine was a beautiful soul who brought happiness to all around her. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Among her notable accomplishments was her long and successful career as a computer hardware technician in the 80s. This was just as computers were just becoming commercially viable and she was very passionate about her career. She was an avid lover of nature and through hiked a large section of the Pacific Crest Trail. She was a warrior in fighting for LGBT rights in the 80s. She was a loving and doting grandmother to one grandchild. Her mothers family was deeply rooted North Beach Italian San Francisco community. She took great pride in this family history and loved to talk about it. Heaven has truly gained an angel and she will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to be touched by her optimism and good humor. She is survived by One daughter Chandra Sevey one Son in Law Gregory Dondono and one grandchild Jimmy Sevey. If you would like to do something in her honor a small donation in her name to the Pacific Crest Trail foundation would be appreciated. A small remembrance party will be set at a later date.

Dear Chandra,
Extremely sad to read this today. As you know I worked with your mom for several years and considered her a good friend. She had a great work ethic and was super smart. But more importantly, she was so kind and so wickedly funny. I treasure the times we spent together, both at somewhat of a crossroad in our lives. She helped me through a very rough patch. We loved Zelda´s pizza in midtown. She loved making people laugh. She helped anyone who needed help, and she´d give you her last cigarette. I can´t say enough nice things about Chris. I´ll miss her, but her memory lives in anyone who knew her as a friend. You are lucky she was your mom and Jimmy´s grandmother.

Chris was a very loving step mom. I knew her from the age of 3, when she was only 19. She taught me to enjoy life from a young age. She was the very definition of fun! It was Chris that taught me to play, baseball, hiking, camping, skiing, and even how to drive a car. Dad did not have the patience to teach me, so Chris did. It saddens me to hear she is no longer with us, but I am sure her energy is gleeming down from the heavens on all of us. Sorry for your loss Sis, I know she loved you dearly.
