On May 19, 2023, Barbara Jean McCarrell Birnbaumer followed her husband, George Anthony Birnbaumer Jr. in death. Barbara and George met while in High School in Redondo Beach, California. They were married on September 2, 1960. George joined Del Monte Foods in 1962 as an accountant in San Francisco. His career took him to several different countries and after the purchase of Del Monte by KKR, to East Hanover, New Jersey. He retired in 1991. Barbara kept house for her family and embraced the opportunities to support local artists, attend cooking classes and travel. After retirement, George and Barbara moved to Battle Ground, WA and wintered in Green Valley, AZ. George died on September 20, 2020. A Celebration of George and Barbara's lives will take place at 11:00 on Sunday, June 4 at Darling & Fischer Chapel of the Hills 615 N Santa Cruz Ave, Los Gatos, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Lung Association or the Alzheimer's Association.
