So sad to hear of Msgr. Foudy's passing. He was much respected and loved here in St. Anne's Parish. He presided over all 6 of my childrens' First Holy Communions and Confirmations. He had a kind sense of humor and a wonderful voice in delivering his sermons. He has been greatly missed here at St. Anne's.

I worked at St. Agnes rectory during my high school (Presentation '68) years and Msgr. Foudy was my "boss". A nicer, kinder man you will never meet. He later con-celebrated (with Fr. Bernard Cummins) my wedding Mass and would come to dinner at our home. He baptized two of our children. You will be missed, Monsignor Foudy. You were a wonderful man/friend. RIP.

I helped the Monsignor with matters in his later life. No matter where I took him the people around asked if they could have a minute of the Monsignor's time for counseling and a blessing. They all loved him so much and held him in such dear esteem. He always said yes to those who needed him. With deep love and respect, rest in peace.

Msgr. Foudy was a good and faithful shepard to his flock, both at Saint Agnes and later at Saint Anne's. We were one of hundreds of families to have benefited from his friendship and counsel.
As superintendent, he was gifted and forward thinking and help to strengthen the parochial school system in San Francisco - hundreds of thousands of San Franciscan students can be grateful for his efforts.
His is a legacy of kindness and spirituality which he shared with so many throughout his vocation. As he enter the Gates of Heaven, God will embrace Msgr. Foudy with gratitude for all he has done for so many.

A wonderful, dedicated priest. I have known Monsignor since my grammar school days. I have many happy memories of him. He's been a part of my life since the time I made my First Communion in 1947. As a Sister he has been there for every important step I have taken.

Truly the last of the Great ones is gone. Longtime S.F. traditional and conservative Catholics recall that Msgr. Foudy, his brother Fr. Denis Foudy, Msgr. Clement McKenna (and a few others) maintained oases of sanity during the turbulence following Vatican II. For that we will always be grateful!

I am so glad that I visited Msgr. Foudy last September two weeks before his 100th birthday. I will never forget his humor. He was dressed with a Giants Wold Series Championship tee shirt. One wall of his room had some Giants items the other religious items. As I looked around I asked him how he felt about turning 100. He answered by saying, "Well, funny you should bring that up. My peers didn't hang around to see the Giants win two world series." I didn't know what to say and we both had a good laugh. He did so much to help me out while I was in high school and college at USF. His greatest gift to me was keeping me headed on the right path even though I stumbled now and then. He will forever be our prayers. We still have his homily recorded from our wedding 39 years ago at St. Anne's. We were both planning to visit him later this month. May he rest in peace.

Monsignor Foudy has been a spiritual light to me all my life. Because he was my second cousin he was there for every sacrament I received from baptism to marriage and he was the first to be called when my father, Ben Hallinan, died, providing consolation and hope. I had a great respect for Monsignor. To me he was a man with great intelligence, faith and a wonderful sense of humor. I am grateful for the kindness, care and attention given to him by the staff at Cristina's Care Home and I sympathize with all his family and friends who have lost a loving, humble and holy man.

Dearest Mary and Theresa,
One of the Greats has passed, RIP. The Irish saying fits well: "Ni bheidh ar leitheidi ann aris." (Literally:
"(Our) likes will not exist again." That was Msgr. Foudy: one of the best school pastors I ever had. He was amazing, remarkable, kind to a fault; ever ready to listen & help; a beloved pastor of all his St. Anne parishioners. I could go on and on, and not do him justice.
He is now praying for all of you in heaven.
May God comfort and console you.
Lovingly,
Sister Esther
