Joseph Melanson Obituary

Joseph Melanson
January 17, 1939 - March 15, 2023
Joseph "Joe" Francis Xavier Melanson of San Francisco, CA, passed away on March 15, 2023, from cancer. Joe was born on January 17, 1939, to Victor Herbert and Charlotte Amelia Melanson in Rochester, NY. After graduating from St. John Fisher College with a degree in accounting, he moved to San Francisco, CA in 1968 and worked at Blum's where he met the love of his life, Evelyn Ann Dillard. They were married in Reno, NV on June 7, 1969.
Joe is predeceased by his mother and father, sister, Mary Margaret Angelidis, and brother, John Charles Melanson. Joe's wife also joined him 13 days after his death. He leaves behind a daughter, Denise Anne Melanson-Fernandez, son in law, Xavier John Melanson-Fernandez, and sister, Barbara Ann Rhoda.
Joe and Evelyn treasured their relationship and sacramental commitment and drew on their experiences to share with engaged couples through their volunteer work with Catholic Engaged Encounter. They were long-time parishioners of St. Brigid's Church and later of St. Vincent de Paul Church and loved the community and friends they made there. They were also lifelong San Francisco Giants fans and season ticket holders, enjoying their time together rooting for their team.
