Mary-Ann Jones Obituary

JONES-Mary- Ann Jones, Long-time Covina resident Mary-Ann Jones passed away at the age of 98 on February 14, 2010 in Carson City, Nevada, where she had relocated to be near her daughter and son when her health declined to where she could no longer live on her own. She was born in rural New York, raised in Quincy, MA near Boston, and relocated to southern California in 1948, where she resided in various communities in the San Gabriel Valley until settling in Covina in 1972. Mary-Ann was preceded in death by her parent s Alfred Horn Sr. & Anna (Best) Horn, brothers Mervin Kenneth Horn ("Buddy") & Alfred Horn Jr. ("Sonny"), sisters Mildred (Horn) Flynn & Olive (Horn) Crozier, and son Donald Alioti. She is survived by sister Irene (Horn) Walker, daughter Dorine (Alioti) Eitel and son Kenneth Horn Jones, as well as 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Mary-Ann worked full-time into her 70's as a book-keeper/accountant for various manufacturing companies before retiring from Quality Vinyl in the early 1980's. Upon ret irement she became very active at the Joslyn Center, where she served for a number of years as the travel chair, arranging numerous junkets to Laughlin, Las Vegas and other areas of interest. She also enjoyed being a member of the Red Hat Society, travelling and attending large family functions. A memorial service will be held on Friday March 12, 2010 from 1:00-2:30 PM at the Joslyn Center, located at 815 N. Barranca Ave. in Covina. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made in her name to the Macular Degeneration Foundation or the American Heart Association. She will return to Quincy, MA for her final resting place.
