Mr. Marvin Wayne Thomas

BOILING SPRINGS- Mr. Marvin Wayne Thomas, 65, of 100 Highland Pine Drive, died Monday, June 30, 2008, at Hospice at Wendover.
A native of Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Mary Lou Thomas. He was a Vietnam era veteran serving in the Marines. He was a retired truck driver of 28 years, who drove for Arkansas Best Freight formerly Carolina Freight. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. He attended and worshiped at Springmore Baptist Church. Mr. Thomas loved to spend time with his family and loved to work in the yard. He was an avid golfer and played mostly at the City Park.
In addition to his mother, a brother, Robert Thomas, and a sister, Catherine Greene preceded him in death.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Betty Cook Thomas, of the home; a son, Mark Thomas and wife, Sherry, of Shelby; a daughter, Karen J. Smith and husband, Louis, of Nashville; two sisters, Betty Warunek of Shelby, and Wilma Leming and husband, Larry, of Georgia; a brother, Charles Thomas and wife, Angie, of Shelby; and three grandchildren, Tiffany Elizabeth Jackson, Donnie Nichole Jackson and Alexandrea Paige Thomas.
Visitation: The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 1 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and at other times at the home.
Funeral: Wednesday, July 2 at 11 a.m. at Clay-Barnette Chapel
