Anne Whittington Obituary

Anne Sanders

Whittington

ARKADELPHIA, AR - On Sunday, March 6, 2011, the Lord called home another angel, Anne Sanders Whittington, after a strong and courageous battle with Leukemia. She left her earthly home for a permanent heavenly home with Jesus.

Anne was born in Shreveport on February 11, 1946. She is survived by her husband of 22 years Joseph Whittington. Anne and Joe made their home in Arkadelphia, AR. She is also survived by daughter Kelley Maxey Cordray and husband Todd of Carrollton, TX. Left to cherish wonderful memories are Haley Anne and Dylan Edward Cordray, her grandchildren who she always referred to as her pride and joy. She left behind three sisters, Sue Sanders Gruber and husband Warren, Sherry Sanders Walker and husband Don, Nancy Sanders Bradford and husband Pat, and brother William Sanders and his wife Maura. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who will always cherish their memories of Aunt Anne.

Anne is preceded in death by her mother Thelma Prince Sanders and her father William Edwin Sanders.

For the last 19 years Anne was employed at Anthony Timberlands in Bierne, Arkansas. She was a friend to all her co-workers and management.

Anne loved gardening, cooking and quilting. She cherished her friendship with the Girls of '64 at Minden High School. Many wonderful memories were made with Joe traveling to Colorado to visit family and many more trips to Gulf Shores, Alabama, with family and friends.

Anne's family would like to thank the nurses and staff on 4B and 10A at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 12th from twelve noon until 12:45 at Lakeview United Methodist Church in Minden, Louisiana, with a memorial service immediately following. The Rev. Carol Heard, a cousin of Anne's, of Heflin United Methodist Church and Associate Pastor-Missions Wade Longcrier of FBC Carrollton, Texas will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to be made to Lakeview United Methodist Church 301 Lakeshore Drive, Minden LA 71055 or First Baptist Church Carrollton, Texas Youth Mission Trip Fund 2400 N. Josey Lane, Carrollton, TX 75007

Still miss seeing Annes smile, warmth as much today and will for always. Our last visit in Arkadelphia was too hurried, but treasured immensely, for certain. Am blessed with many cousins, just wish Anne were still with us. A beautiful soul that brightened many a room!

Joe & Kelly & family, Anne was so special to me, such a sweet, sweet spirit that she had. She was an inspiration to us all. She was such a "trooper", doing fun things with us at 4 Angels, waiting patiently in the 4 wheeler for us....her service on Sat. was AWESOME!! I love those butterflies and how they represented her ascension into heaven & shedding her earthly body for one free of pain & disease. God bless you all & God speed, Anne. Girls of ' 64.

My wife and I moved across the street from Anne and Joe in 2009. I'm so glad I got to meet and know Ms. Anne if just for a brief time! I knew Joe from work, and it was a pleasure to have her and Joe as neighbors. We're so sorry that Ms. Anne has passed away, but we know she is with the Lord know.

We're so sorry we haven't responded sooner, but we just found out today about Ms. Anne.

Praying that God will continue to give you strength in the coming days ahead. The one thing that I cherish is that Jesus said He would be with us even until the end of the earth.Rely on His strength. We will see Anne again and all those who have gone before us. "Girls of 64"

Anne is leading the way for all of us in heaven. Her friendship has made me a better person. Please know you all have a friend in Shreveport - until I go to be with Anne. And know that God won't give us more than we can handle with His help.

Anne always made me feel good. She was a warm, caring person with a very strong spirit. We had fun and loved being part of "MHS Girls of '64". I have so many good memories. What fun we all had at 4 Angels Farm. I miss her so. Kelly, I know how much she loved you and all her family. My heart goes out to you all. May God hold you close. I am so sorry I cannot be there Saturday but know you will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Anne was a amazing person. She never meet a stranger. We have been friends for almost thirty years. She was a very kind and gentle person. She always had a smile on her face and would light up a room with her warm personality. She loved life and her family with all her heart. I know she will be missed every day. There was only one Anne and I loved her very much. I will miss her every day. May God be with her family and friends during this time of grief. God got a gem when he got her.
