Christopher DeFatta Obituary

Christopher Neal DeFatta

05/14/1959 - 09/29/2014

Christopher Neal DeFatta, formerly of Shreveport, LA, left this world to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 29, 2014. He was dearly loved by his family and friends.

Chris was well known for his love of music and art. He taught himself to play the piano, guitar and his great gift for playing the drums. He was so outgoing and kept everyone laughing and made friends immediately. He could almost quote the Bible verbatim. Someone once said, If animals love you then you must be a good person, "and so he was one." Chris was a graduate of C.E. Byrd High School, Shreveport, LA.

As a journeyman his visits with friends and family became longer than planned, but everyone learned that the harsh realties of life are sometimes too hard for some to cope with. With concern for Chris, his family always kept in touch and his life's history reflected every dimension of that reality. We know Chris's life has a purpose as does each life and he will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his parents, Sam (Sammie), LaMarque, TX and Marianne Farmer, Shreveport, LA.; brothers, Paul B. DeFatta, Houston, TX and Greg DeFatta, Escondido, CA; sister, Denise Armacost (Mike), Terrell, TX; aunts, Harriet Kendall (Jim), Benton, LA and Betty DeFatta and Dinah DeFatta; uncle Nicholas DeFatta (Vonell), numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial services will be held at 3 PM Sunday, December 14, 2014 at First United Methodist Church, Couch Chapel, 500 Common Street, Shreveport, with Rev. Derek Joyce officiating.

The family suggests donations be made to the donors choice.

Seeing Chris always made me smile! I loved his passion! I loved the way he was bold enough to question ideas. He was so easy to talk to. I will miss him dearly. I had not seen him in a while.God bring peace to his family. ~Angie Anders

Chris was that zany musician who was the life of the party with his quick wit. May he bring his spirit to heaven for all to see. We'll see each other again one day my friend.

Chris was one of the very few brave and strong enough to climb Byrd's flagpole to post the victory flag. That's how I'll remember him.

Our sympathy to all of Chris' family. We have many fond memories of Chris playing the ice chests (his version of drums) when we went camping many years ago. He always kept us laughing. RIP Chris. From all "The Pepper girls"
