Betty Jo for Imogene Johnson

At almost 92, my mother can only recall your mother, when I show her a picture of Hazel. At that point, the look on Mom's face says it all. They were devoted friends and neighbors and they truly loved each other.

Mrs. Milam, Hazel, was one of the best parts of my returning to Ruston. I was encourged by her enthusiasm for life and for knowing what was going on all around her. I loved watching she and Belle making their trek up the street daily and always was lifted by her smile and her beautiful eyes. I am saddened , but joyful at the same time, as she has received her reward for a life well lived.

Sister of Patsy Hilton,
I loved your Mother, she was one of the kindest, sweetest, ladies I have ever known. I always loved visiting at your parents house when I came for my summer visits in Ruston. I have some very good memories of Ruston in my childhood. I will be thinking and praying for all of you thoughtout the weeks and months to come.

HAZEL WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITE TEACHERS AT RUSTON HIGH SCHOOL. SHE LET US JOIN THE CHOIR ALTHOUGH MANY OF US COULD NOT "CARRY A TUNE IN A BUCKET." SHE LAUGHED AT THE END OF EACH SIX WEEKS WHEN SHE HAD US STAND BY THE PIANO AND SING IN WHATEVER PITCH WE WERE SUPPOSED TO SING, (ALTO, SOPRANO,ETC.)BECAUSE MOST OF US SANG WHATEVER THE PERSON BEHIND US WAS SINGING!! WE ALWAYS OH'ED AND AHED EVERY SAT. NIGHT WHEN SHE CAME TO THE "PREVIEW" (THE LATE SHOW) WITH DON, SINCE SHE WAS OUR TEACHER. SHE WAS A WONDERFUL WOMAN.

Hazel was such a special and beloved lady. I am so grateful that my family and I had the pleasure of knowing her and being her neighbors. We had some of the best neighborhood get-togethers ever! We will miss her so much, but know she is happy and healthy again in Heaven.
