Louise Ashley "Mrs. Clark"

Elston

SHREVEPORT, LA - Graveside services for Louise Ashley Elston will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at Forest Park Cemetery, led by The Reverend Andrew Comeaux. Mrs. Elston passed to eternal life on Friday, July 1, 2011, at Live Oaks Retirement Center. The family welcomes visitors on Tuesday, July 5, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Osborn Funeral Home.

She attended Shreveport schools, finishing in the first graduating class of C. E. Byrd High School and marrying D. C. "Clark" Elston, Jr. in 1931. She spent her whole life as wife, mother, and homemaker, always preferring to be at home doing for her family or others and tending her beautiful flowers and the many birds and squirrels in her yard.

On March 20, 2011, Mrs. Elston celebrated her 100th birthday at the home of Dean and Ashley Elston, surrounded by those she loved, her immediate family, her extended family, and her many friends and long-term neighbors from her home of many years in North Highlands.

Descended from early Caddo Parish settlers, Mrs. Elston was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas S. Ashley and Louise Simpson Ashley; her brother, Thomas S. Ashley, Jr. of Dallas, TX; and her husband, Clark Elston.

She is survived by her two sons and their wives, Richard and Lennis Elston, and Dudley and Kathy Elston. Grandchildren include Ashley Elston Prince (John), Dean Elston (Ashley), Jennifer B. Stimits (Grady), and Laurie B. Rogers (Brad); great-grandchildren include Curtis, Ellis and Jonas Prince, Miller, Ross and Archer Elston, Gabrielle, Lola and Nolan Stimits, and Brinon Clark Rogers, all living in Shreveport, LA. She is also survived by her sister, Pauline "Pat" Smith, of Houston, TX, her nephews, Buddy and Tom Smith of California, and Bob Ashley of Colorado; brothers-in-law, R. D. "Bubba" Elston of Elm Grove and Dr. David Elston of Lafayette, LA; and numerous cousins and their families, many of whom live in the Shreveport area.

Pallbearers will be Curtis Prince, Ellis Prince, Grady Stimits and Brad Rogers. Honorary pallbearers will be Miller Elston and Ross Elston.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of Live Oak Retirement Center for their loving care of Mrs. Elston during her stay there. In lieu of flowers, the family would request that donations be made in Mrs. Elston's memory to Hospice of LA, P.O. Box 32600, Shreveport, LA 71130-2600 or to Live Oak Retirement Center, 600 E. Flournoy Lucas Rd., Shreveport, LA 71115.

To the Elston family, I offer my sincere condolences. It was not my privilege to know her; however, she appeared to be a loving, caring, Christian mother. God's peace be with you all.
