Victor & The Burgesses,
I could not be more saddened by the news of John's passing. I had the good fortune to work with John at American Invsco. As he was Art Director and I was Copywriter, we spent many hours working very closely together. He was not only one of the most talented designers, he was smart, funny, generous, sincere, etc. Despite the heavy workload, crazy deadlines and other burdens imposed on the Art Department, John had a way of making the chaos fun and always came through with flying colors. He routinely gave his all and then some.
John was a wonderfully unique soul and I truly adored him. On my desk, I keep a little bank that we got him as a joke which he left behind. When I look at it now, the sense of loss is apparent, but I also hold the joy of fond memories close to my heart.
I wish you all strength, comfort and peace.

To Victor and to John's family,
You are in my thoughts, as is John, as I mourn his death.
I'm another former co-worker from Open Port, 10 years ago, but it seems more recent.
John was great to work with, but even better just to have at the office. However crazy the deadlines got, or the demands were, he always came through with great design and tools. I always felt better after hanging out in his office.
The first time I was in there, all I saw was his enviable creativity, chaotic and challenging, but, well just good stuff: rebellious, interesting, smart, clever. And then I started noticing the color charts, the books, the evidence of technical knowledge and commitment to the tools and his intellect behind his creativity.
After Open Port I used to run into John in our neighborhood, walking into a restaurant with my family one Mother's day; in stores, or on the way to a bus or train. It was always good to see him. I hope he felt the better for running into me as I always did seeing him. I wish I'd seen him more and known him better and I am sorry for your loss.

To the Burgesses: I worked with John at Open Port, and he taught me a lot about marketing. He was always going doing more than was required, was such an inspiration to work with.
I last saw John for Indian food a couple months ago, and he was excited about a job he was working on (or about to start).
I hope you find peace in this time. John was a good friend, and he'll be missed.

The sadness I feel knowing that John is not with us here anymore is tempered by the knowledge that he is with God now in heaven. All my favorite memories of Sacred Heart Grade School include John, and for that matter, his brothers Mark and Brett. I feel blessed to have known him and trust that the Lord will provide comfort to his family, friends and all who feel the same sense of loss that I do knowing that he has passed away. God Bless you John.
