FOSTER FAIR Obituary

Foster was born to Charles and Mavis Fair on January 18, 1942 in Cambridge, Ohio, beginning a life that would provide many adventures, challenges and great memories.

He attended school in a one room school house in Slaughter Hill with his brothers and other farm kids. In the 1950's, Charles moved the family west several times and the last trip began a life time in Skagit County for the whole family.

Foster graduated from Burlington-Edison High School after a few detours to Idaho. He joined the US Air Force and was deployed to Okinawa. This was a very influential experience for him. While in the Air Force in Great Falls, he met Marleen Cereck on a blind date and then married her on September 30, 1961 in Great Falls.

After having their daughter, they moved back to Skagit County and began their lives. Foster began work at Contel after working several jobs to provide an income for his family. In 1968 they had a son. In the late 70's Foster and Marleen built a house doing most of the work themselves. That home was sold and a new one was built in 1978 on Parkridge Lane where they resided until recently.

Foster was a social guy. He loved to be the joke teller, not the center of attention but always loved to get a laugh. He retired from Verizon (formerly Contel/GTE) in 1993.

He had a long retirement that was busy with selling a bit of real estate, managing properties that they owned, and eventually starting the telephone guys and gals coffee group that is still going. He cared for his parents in their later years and helped them with their estate. He loved to golf, drive around, and eat breakfast out with his brothers and with friends. He loved to listen to Nick (son) and Troy (his nephew) play country music at the Edison and other venues. There was not much he couldn't fix or figure out.

He loved his family and is survived by wife, Marleen Fair, daughter Michele Jaeger and son-in-law Craig Jaeger, son Nicholas Fair and partner Laura Peterson, granddaughter Shayla Jaeger and partner Braydon Robbins, granddaughter Abby Jaeger, sister T Fair O'Harrow, brothers Terry and wife Shirley, Tom and wife Judy, Allen Fair, Ted Fair, Mary Fair.

He will be missed and remembered as a great family man and friend.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County (540 E. 8th Street, Port Angeles, WA 98362- 360-452-1511 (www.vhocc.org) They also want to acknowledge the great care from the Hospice nursing staff that allowed Foster to be home until the end of his life.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Eagles, 1000 Metcalf, Sedro Woolley WA on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 2pm until 5pm.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hulbush Funeral Home, Burlington.

Marlene & Family- I am so sorry for your loss. I met Foster at Creekside, Mavis & Charles had moved in. And I do remember at one event one of our entertainers did not show up & Mavis volunteered Foster's talent. What a hit!! Creekside even had Foster entertain the crowdat a later date, his own gig. Great guy, thanks to his great folk's.
