Clyde Edward Stanford Aug. 16, 1962 - Aug. 1, 2015 SOUTH BEND - Clyde Edward Stanford, 52, residing in South Bend, Indiana, passed away at 3:56 AM Saturday, August 1, 2015, at his home. Clyde was born on August 16, 1962, in Pickens, Mississippi, to James Schaffer and Irene (Martin) Schaffer, and had resided in South Bend since 1999, coming from Mississippi. He worked for many years at Colbert Packaging in Elkhart, IN, and was affiliated with the Baptist Church. Clyde was preceded in death by his father, James Schaffer; sister, Kendra Coleman; and brother, Al Curtis Stanford. He is survived by his daughter, LaTonya Stanford of Jackson, MS; two grandchildren, La'Shunti Smith and Eric Smith, Jr.; mother, Irene Schaffer of South Bend; sisters, Ora Jeanette (Doc) Jefferson of Chicago, IL, Lillie (Albert) Stanford-Moore of Gary, IN, Shirley Stanford, Linda Stanford and Debora (Anthony) Schaffer, all of South Bend; brothers, Alfonzo Stanford of South Bend and Eric (Sharon) Stanford of Berwin, IL; and wonderful companion of 30 years, Jeanette Kelly of South Bend. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, August 8, 2015, at Goodman-Pickens Elementary School, 3877 HWY 51 South, Goodman, Mississippi. Burial will follow at the Schaffer Family Cemetery, Canton, MS. Friends may visit with the family from 3-7 PM Friday at People's Undertaking, 319 W. North Street, Canton, MS, and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the school. Memorial contributions may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice, 620 W. Edison Road, Suite 122, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
