MISHAWAKA - Glenn Martin, 78, of Mishawaka passed away in his home surrounded by his family on Thursday, November 14, 2013 after losing his 3rd battle with cancer. Glenn was born on March 2, 1935 in Mishawaka, IN, to the late H. Glenn and Geneva (Overholser) Martin. He graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1953, and then served 2 years in the U.S. Army. He completed his basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri and spent most of his service time in Nancy, France as a Company Carpenter. On July 14, 1954 in Mishawaka, he married Arlene (Darby) who survives. Also surviving are 2 daughters; Cindy Branscom, of Mishawaka and Susan (Dave) Besemer, of South Bend, 2 sons, Dennis D. Martin and Rich (Bettte Thompson) Martin, both of Mishawaka, 7 grandchildren, Zachary Felten, Amanda (Nick) Mowery, Abby Besemer, Andrew Besemer, Kelsey Larkin, Mindy Martin and Glenn Martin, and 2 sisters, Betty Pixley, of South Bend and Martha (Jerry) Hesch, of Mishawaka. He was preceded in death by 1 sister, Mary Troxel and 1 brother, Dennis O. Martin. Glenn worked at Wheelabrator for 30 years and Dodge Mfg. for 10 years as a wood patternmaker. Glenn enjoyed helping his children with building projects or mechanical problems. He had several hobbies, including woodworking, golf, bowling and softball. He was also an avid fan of many sports, including baseball, football, NASCAR and Indiana University basketball. He was a member of Club 15 Athletic Association, American Legion 0161, Mishawaka high School Alumni, and former member of the Mishawaka Men's Euchre Club. There will be no funeral as per his wishes and he will be cremated. Bubb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. A gathering in his honor will take place on Saturday, November 23, 2013 in the 1st United Methodist Church 201 E. 3rd St. Mishawaka, IN, from 1-4 pm.
