Linda Jones Obituary

Aug. 13, 1954 - Feb. 3, 2010
SOUTH BEND - Linda Kay (Clay) Jones, 55, was called home February 3, 2010. She was born on August 13, 1954, in South Bend, IN. She was a loyal member of River of Life Church where she served as head of the Usher Board. Linda was born-again and turned her life over to Christ in 1998. Linda loved the Lord and regularly hosted home church. Linda was preceded in death by her father, Willie Thomas Brown; her adopted mother, Augusta "Madear" Page; former husband, Richard "Dickey" Clay; and two brothers, Timothy Brown and Larry Fultz. She is survived by her mother, Louise Fultz; husband, John Jones; six children, Casey Harper, Rica Clay, Brittany Clay, Sonjia Clay, Crystal Clay and Richard Clay; five sisters, Venita Fultz, Carol (Pete) Slade, Louella (James) Gary, Wannetta Reid and Tracy Page; four brothers, Edwin Fultz, Sylvester Fultz, Alfred Fultz and Herman (Florida) Hudson; 20 grandchildren including Casey Harper Jr., Leashawn Harper, Carrington Harper, Cierra Harper, Amani "Princess" Clay, Jazmyn "Sugars" Lottie and Clarence "Man-Man" Ross; and two great-grandchildren; special friends until the very end, Priscilla (Cil) Works, Dorothy (Moore) Cook and Linda (Moore) Jones; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Linda was an extreme humanitarian. She was a woman of faith, kindness and generosity. She served the community by working at the Center for the Homeless and Dismas House. She spent most of her life putting others before herself, sacrificing so that those she loved would not go without. She taught others what love truly means, and she showed by example how disappointments and setbacks could be turned around into something positive. Today she watches over all of us and her memory continues to enrich our lives. We were fortunate to have her and we'll always love her. Services for Mrs. Linda Kay Clay-Jones will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2010, in the River of Life Church, 530 E. Ireland St., South Bend, IN. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Funeral service at noon. Burial will follow funeral service at Highland Cemetery. The Clark O'Neal Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Cheryl Snowden-Jackson

February 9, 2010

To the entire family,
I send you my love and prayers. Linda was there from the beginning for me, we lived across the street from each other when we were 6, we were in Mrs. Eisenhowers 4th grade class together, and there it was she who told me that I was "kin" to her cousins and she "took" me to meet them at recess! she told me I needed to know my sisters! That was Linda, always nurturing, always helping others. But what I learned and loved much later in life while working with her at the Center for the Homeless, is that she was not ashamed to preach the gospel. She would witness to all who would come to her, and she walked the walk so beautifully. Often, when I needed to share with a fellow christian about the goodness of God,it was Linda that i would go to. she was so real, and so willing to tell it like it is.

To her children, be comforted in knowing that she touched so many lives in the Center as well as anywhere she went. I miss her so much, this friend who was there for me at the beginning. We are all richer because we knew and loved Linda Kay.

"For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing."
2 Tim. 4:6-8

To the Clay/Jones family: Linda will be greatly missed however, never forgotten. To Rica and Brittany I will never forget how "momma, always had something to say" no matter what it was and in the midst of that she always had a scripture or saying to back up what she was fussing about. Linda-Kay treated all of us as if we were her kids and for that I will always love her. Rica and Brittany I have watched both of you grow from little teenage girls to beautiful young women and I know that Linda-Kay is in heavan proud and bragging about her daughters. I just want you to know that I will continue praying for the family and if you need anything please let me know.
