Ruby Bridges Obituary

Ruby Maxine Beavers Bridges, a lifelong resident of Tippah County, made it to her heavenly home on October 9, 2024, at the age of 97. She was the wife of the late Lester Marlin Bridges. Ruby was the oldest child of 12, born to the late Robert Joseph and Arozenia Idell Bryant Beavers on August 8, 1927.

Ruby received part of her education at Unity School House and then on Sunday's they had church services there. She is the last of the Charter Members of Unity Baptist Church and she was still attending faithfully. She loved the Lord and her church family.

She worked for 23 years at the first factory that came to Tippah County in 1962, The Shoe Factory, until they closed. She continued to work another 10 years at Red Cap sewing on pockets until they closed, being 70 years old at that time. She walked to work many of those days.

In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with family, watching baseball, basketball, and golf. Her favorite team was the Braves. And in 2017, at the young age of 90, she attended her first Braves game.

Her Service was October 12, 2024 at Unity Baptist Church. Burial at Unity Baptist Church Cemetery.

Ruby is survived by her children Lester Darrell Bridges (Maggie) of Ripley; Marilyn Gail Short (Gerald) of Ripley; Jerry Eugene Bridges (Jerri Ann) of Booneville; one sister Martha Smith (Randy) of Ripley; one brother Bill Beavers of TN; Nine grandchildren Susie Brady (Terry); Bobby Bridges (Angela); Justin Bridges (Angela); Allana Goforth (Billy); Heather Pannell (Mikeal); Brandie Pannell (Randy) all of Ripley, Kristy Mason (Charlie) of TN; Shauna Bridges and Hudson Bridges of Booneville. Nineteen Great Grandchildren, 3 Step Great Grandchildren. Fourteen Great, Great Grandchildren, one step Great, Great Grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her parents; one son Terry Lynn (Shag) Bridges; one Great Grandson Dylan Scott Bridges; Five brothers: Bob Beavers, Johnny Beavers, Harmon Beavers, Dennis Beavers, and Robert Milton Beavers. Four sisters: Peggy Clemmer, Louise Kelly, Judy Jones, and Tina Brady.

Officiating will be Bro. Ronnie Barefield. Pallbearers: Russell Clemmer, Randle Beavers, Kerry Johnson, Kenny Cook, Jim Graves, and Dalton Bryant. Honorary Pallbearers: Jackie Clemmer, Charles Beavers, Roger Woods, Mike Beavers, Dale Beavers, and Ricky Beavers.
