John Spaulding Obituary

John J. Bussy Spaulding, retired Brockton Police, age 81, of Brockton, died unexpectedly Dec. 30, 2011, at his home. Born and raised in Brockton, he was the son of the late Lillian (McGee) Spaulding. Bussy was a graduate of Brockton High School, class of 1948 and also graduated from an art school in Boston. He was a Navy veteran who had served during the Korean Conflict as a Coxswain on an LST. For many years he was a self employed mason in Brockton and for over 30 years was on the Brockton Police force. He was an accomplished artist and wood carver and an active member of the Conte, Bertocci and Enterprise Clubs. He is survived by his twin brother Thomas E. Spaulding and his wife Elizabeth of Brockton and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Jay Patrick Spaulding; former husband of the late Patricia (OConnor) Spaulding and brother of the late Collette ONeil. Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont St., (Rte. 123), Brockton, Tuesday 5-8 p.m. The funeral procession will form at the funeral home Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. for a funeral Mass in Christ the King Parish at 10:30 a.m. Burial in Melrose Cemetery. I just found out and am so sorry to hear of Bussy's passing. I adored him. I'll never forget him making me walk the iron stair ladder to his studio. Such a great artist and such a great and loving man. Prayers and thoughts to family. RIP Bussy, you will be sorely missed.
