Joseph Ensko Obituary

Joseph P. Ensko, 89, retired Boston Police Officer, of Brockton, died March 8, 2021. Born in Boston, a son of the late Michael and Agnes (Brody) Ensko, natives of Ireland. Joe enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served active duty for 20 years from 1947 to 1967, Reserves from 1967 to 1977, retiring as Chief Petty Officer. He was military police in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba in 1963 during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Joe continued to serve in law enforcement as a Boston Police Patrolman from 1967 to 1996. His passion for police motorcycle units was instrumental in creating the Brockton Mobile Operations bike unit. Joe was actively involved for decades in the Blue Knights, Chapter One, Patriot Guard Riders and Top Three. Joe was the husband of Mary (Rizzotti) Ensko; father of Joseph Ensko Jr. (and Debra) of Brockton, Thomas Ensko (and Robin) of Brockton and David Ensko (and Christine) of Florida; grandfather of Christine Spadea (and Matthew), Joseph M. Ensko, Elizabeth Kasmarek (and Daniel), Jennifer Ensko, Emilee and Brady Ensko and Joshua Kelley; great-grandfather of Dylan, Andrew and Julia Spadea; brother of the late John, Lillian, Beatrice, Catherine and Pauline; and an uncle of many nieces and nephews including Michael Ensko of Maryland. All are welcome to calling hours Thursday, March 11 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St. Brockton, his funeral on Friday, March 12 from Waitt Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. and his funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Edith Stein Church and burial at Melrose Cemetery veterans lot. I met Joe through my work place.He was such a nice man and so fun to talk with! My husband and I have a trike and that was a common talk subject with Joe and I. We shared stories of rides and adventures. He will be missed by all.(I just heard of his passing yesterday) So sorry. RIP Joe.
