Paul Sellstone Obituary

Paul R. Sellstone, 75, of Bridgewater passed away December 15, 2015. He was the son of Henry and Hilda Sellstone and grew up in Brockton. Paul leaves behind his loving wife Barbara of 52 years, his daughter Michelle and her husband David Wood and his son Michael and his wife Joanne Sellstone along with his two beloved grandchildren Travis and Victoria. In addition, he will be fondly missed by his two grandpuppies, Molly and Bella. At 23, Paul served in the U.S. Army Signal Core from 1963-1966, reaching the rank or Sergeant. He served in the Canal Zone Republic of Panama and the Embassy La Paz of Bolivia. Paul worked at BPM and then continued on with Shaws Supermarkets for 44 years while working in just about every capacity from bagger in the early days to store manager and District Manager towards the end of his tenure. He was always very active in the Bridgewater community founding the St. Thomas Aquinas Couples Club as well as his involvement in many other town organizations and sports groups with his kids. He was an active member of the Berwick Boys Foundation. Although he was never a scout himself, he was extremely active with the Boy Scouts of America holding such positions and committee member, council commissioner, member of the Executive Board and anything someone asked him to be a part of from running events to cooking at scouting weekends. He was a vigil member of the Order of the Arrow, a Silver Beaver Award Recipient and held his Woodbadge beads. Paul loved sports of all kinds but especially enjoyed the times watching his kids and grandkids playing the sport of their choice out on the fields. Visiting hours Friday, December 18, 2015, from 4-8 p.m. at Prophett-Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St., in Bridgewater. So sorry to learn of Paul's passing. He attended school with my sister Meredith, Class of 58 and also attended Porter Congregational Church with us.
53 years ago when I was newly pregnant my sister and I were shopping at Shaw's on the West side and I fainted in the produce dept. Fortunately Paul was there and drove us home as I had driven and my sister did not drive. He was so kind and caring and I never forgot him for that. My sincere condolences to his family.

I attended school with Paul (West Jr High 1st 7th graders), we were the Class of 58 at BHS. I always
remember Paul as being a very positive and happy
classmate. He led a wonderful life and produced
a great family. We were so lucky to grow up during
that time. Paul left behind a million wonderful memories for those that knew him.

Sorry for your loss.
