Such a good man on so many levels -- served his country, employers, wife, children, community, God, .... faithfully.
It was always a highlight to cross paths with "Mr.Slocum". Everyone gained something from knowing him.
Sorry for your loss, Bob & Kathryn.
Love,
Beth (for all the Carpenter kids)

Robert Slocum was a professional with vast knowledge not only of his field, cataloguing and bibliography, but also of the cultures and the information resources librarianship strives to make accessible. He was a conscientious and always compassionate mentor, as I discovered time and again when I reported to him. And clearly, he was an exemplar in his generosity toward those around him.
May he rest in peace and his family find comfort in the respect he so deservedly earned.

Bob's passing saddens me greatly. He was one of my favorite volunteers at CMC because of his humor, dedication, and intelligence. I have often thought about him fondly. Please accept my sincere condolences.
