Richard Smith Obituary

Richard G. Smith, of Plymouth, age 69, died at the Tufts Medical Center in Boston on Dec. 7, 2011. He was the devoted husband of Evelyn E. (Angus) Smith. Born in Staten Island, New York on September 22, 1942, he was the beloved son of the late George and Zelmarie (Garrod) Smith. He was educated in New York, and worked for most of his life as an accountant, working at Proctor and Gamble and later Cape Cod Hospital, retiring in 2005. He moved to Plymouth from Middlesex, NJ in 1991. Richard loved working with model cars, enjoyed traveling, gardening, and visits with family. He will be well known for his zest for life and his quiet demeanor. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife Evelyn and was the loving father of Timothy Richard Smith and his wife Pamela of Coral Springs, FL, Kelley Leigh Smith of Hamilton, NJ, and was stepfather to Karen Purba of Lynnfield, MA, Joanna Smith and Thomas Smith both of Plymouth. He was the beloved brother of Charles Smith of Boynton Beach, FL and Carol Weaver of Sunset Beach, NC and cherished grandfather of Alyssa, Courtney and Grace Smith. A celebration of Richards life will be announced in April 2012. Cremation will take place at Vine Hills Crematory, Plymouth.
