Ann Bishop Obituary

Ann Neely Bishop
Ann Neely Bishop died on Friday, August 29th at the age of 91. She was born in Greenville, SC, and soon moved to Spartanburg with her parents, K.E. Neely and Maime Lawton Neely.
She graduated from Spartanburg High School and North Greenville Junior College, and went on to attend Winthrop College.
After WWII, she married David Lee Bishop, Jr. and gave birth to four children.
Along with caring for her family, she also excelled in culinary and sewing skills, as well as other creative projects.
She enjoyed helping others and excised her compassionate talents by becoming an interpreter to the deaf and later working with ESOL students who wanted to improve their language skills. She was always ready to aid those in need with soup, cookies, or a kind word.
Ann was a church member who enjoyed attending, teaching, volunteering, and supporting the activities at Morningside Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, David L. Bishop, Jr. and her four children: sons, David L. Bishop, III of Woodruff and Edward N. Bishop of Spartanburg; daughters, Mary B. Heflin, married to Boo Heflin of Hot Springs, AR and Pat B. Langston, married to Tom Langston, III of Spartanburg. Her grandchildren are David L. Bishop, IV, married to Stacey Smith; Thomas P. Bishop, married to Nassim Lewis; Betty Ann Bishop; Thomas E. Langston, married to Tiffany Yelder Langston; John Cooper Langston; and Sawyer Ann Langston.
Also surviving are her brother, Herbert Neely; sister-in-law, Ruth Cash Neely; numerous nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
Mrs. Bishop was predeceased by her parents; her brothers, Thomas, K.E., Asbury, Kirk, William and Wesley; her sister, Allene Bennett, and daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Eve (Pixie) Bishop.
Family visitation will be Saturday, September 6 at Morningside Welcome Center from 2:00 - 3:15 with the service following at 3:30.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be given to Morningside Baptist or Total Ministries.
