Keith SWENSON Obituary

Eric Swenson and Suzy Swenson, along with their spouses Wanda and Greg, wish to share the passing of their father, Keith Swenson, whom they admired so very much. Keith passed peacefully on June 14th at their family home in Spokane Valley. To say he was well-loved is a huge understatement. He will be greatly missed by his family and his special companion of many years, Paula.

Anyone who met Keith would quickly realize he was a "people person". He was a collector of friends. He grew up in Spokane, attended Grant Elementary School, and went on to enjoy his high school years at Lewis and Clark. He especially loved playing on the football team and was awarded a college scholarship.

He joined the Marine Corps and served our country for three years before returning to Spokane and meeting his wife, Florence. They married and began a family and he went to work for Boge's Bakery. He loved his job and met so many friends in those years. He also spent countless hours working on drag boats with his friend, Gary Rupert. It was at that time that he purchased a place on Harbor Island. The family attended Berean Church, where they grew their faith and met many wonderful people.

He so enjoyed spending time with his brothers, Kenny (Janice), Harland (Betsy), Don (Carol), and his sister, Linda (Mike), and their families. Keith also loved time spent with his many treasured friends.

While attending a dance class, Keith had the good fortune of meeting Paula Johnson and they went on to share the next thirty years of their lives. He and Paula traveled and created many memories together. Her family became very special to Keith and his family as well, and he enjoyed spending time with Robin (Tom), Patty (John), Jeanette, and all their children.

Keith will be sorely missed by his grandchildren, Jenny, Cassie (Dave), Drew (Rebecca), Keith (Elizabeth), Lora, (Chris), and Sidney (Taylor) as he had developed a deep and unique friendship with everyone of them. He supported them always and never missed an event. They share a vast amount of memories with "Grandpa". He taught them all to dive off the board at the cabin, the importance of family, and countless life lessons. They will always remember their special grandpa. The times spent traveling together, vacationing, and enjoying the cabin were joyous. Therefore, the family would like to extend an invitation to those who spent time with Keith to join them in celebrating his long, happy, event-filled life on Harbor Island on Saturday, July 1 at 4.30.

Lastly, the family wishes to extend a very sincere thank you to the amazing and skilled staff of Hospice of Spokane.

I am sorry for your loss. Keith sounds like an amazing man. I lived on 40th and Ivory, kitty-corner from Kenny and Janice. My mom, Selma Marsh, considered Janice a good friend. Please say hi to them for me and share my condolences. Thank you.
