James Billick Obituary

JAMES E. BILLICK - Jim Billick, age 68, of Norwalk died peacefully with his family at his side in his home on April 24. He was a devoted husband and father who loved his family who also enjoyed traveling, kayaking, hiking and was an avid reader.

Jim was born on June 27, 1938, in Stamford, Connecticut to the late Katherine and Ignac Billick. He graduated from Stamford High School and attended J. M. Wright Technical School, Westchester Community College and the University of Connecticut. Jim worked for Diamond National Corporation, Electrolux and Pitney Bowes as a mechanical engineer. He was an active member of the Croatian Fraternal Union. He was also a member of Lifetime Learners, Knights of Columbus and New Horizons.

In addition to his beloved wife Judith Belmont Billick, Jim is survived by his son David Billick, his daughter Karen Destefanis and his adored granddaughter Nicole Destefanis.

He was also blessed with a cherished daughter-in-law, Melinda Meyer and a wonderful son-in-law, Edward Destefanis. Jim is survived by his sister Helen Wood and her husband Ronald Wood of Brooklyn, Connecticut.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 10:00 AM in St. Matthew Church, 219 Scribner Avenue, Norwalk. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, Darien.

Jim's family will receive friends at the Collins Funeral Home located at 92 East Avenue in Norwalk, Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Visiting Nurse & Hospice Care at 1029 East Main Street, Stamford 06902 or the Bennett Cancer Center at Stamford Hospital, 30 Shelburne Road, Stamford 06904.

Dear Judy,Karen and David
I was so sorry to hear about Jimmy. I have many memories of him when we played our music above the Eagel's club in Stamford. One of his favorite songs was Spanish Eyes. I will always remember his smiling eyes!

it is always the toughest time to lose one we all loved. our sadness is more made profound for the times we shared and will miss. i am happy to have watched and participated in some of those times and shared in a few of those lovely events. jim, you and your lovely wife judy were a pleasure to be around and i personally will miss you. give my regards to my folks and my brother. we will be along before to long...and in the meantime we will treasure our memories of you as we spend a little more time here enjoying those that remain who knew and loved you.
