Joseph Calka Obituary
Joseph F. Calka, Jr., a longtime resident of Stamford, CT, passed away peacefully at Stamford Hospital on Saturday, November 26, 2022 with his family at his side. Joseph was 88 years old at the time of his passing.
He was born in Glenville, NY on February 16, 1934, and was one of seven children born to the late Joseph F. Calka and the late Katherine Garbarz Calka. Joseph was a devoted husband to his late wife, Ann, and a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who would do anything for his family. He will be sorely missed, and he will live on in the hearts and memories of his loved ones.
Joseph was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ann E. Calka, in September of 2017; and is survived by his daughter, Diane Calka; his son, Joseph Calka; grandchildren, Kelly Palmer and William Coleman; and his greatgrandchildren, Peter, William, Adele, Ryann and Charleigh.
In addition to his wife, Anne, and his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his brothers, John, Eddie, Tony, Bruno, and Charlie Calka, and his sister, Mary Filardo.
Friends and family may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford, CT on the morning of Friday, December 2, 2022 from 9:00AM to 10:30AM, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow the Wake, at 11:00AM, at St. Maurice Church, 358 Glenbrook Road, Stamford, CT 06906. The interment with military honors will immediately follow Mass at St. Mary R.C. Cemetery in Greenwich.

My Uncle Joe was the last of my mother's side of our relatives. I will always remember Uncle Joe as asking if I wanted a beer, or a pizza from the Colony Bar. He was always in a joyous mood.
