Norman Salem Obituary
Long time resident of Stamford, Ct died suddenly on March 19, 2013. Norm was born in Providence, Rhode Island on June 19, 1953 to Mary B. Salem and the late Norman J. Salem Sr. Norm leaves behind his beloved wife Mary Savastano Salem and their children Angelica Mae and Lucas Alexander. Norm also leaves behind his brothers; Joseph Salem (Maria), James Salem (Joan) In-laws Orlando L. and Maureen Savastano, Amy and Carl Benevides, Nancy Savastano, Jonathan Savastano, a multitude of loving and adoring nieces and nephews, countless relatives and friends all of whom will miss him terribly.
Norm was the Founder and President of Manhattan Underwriting and has been an Insurance Underwriter for over 35 years. He graduated from the University of Rhode Island in1976.
Norm touched so many lives both personally and professionally. He had a kind and generous heart and shared his zest for life with his infectious smile. Norm was quick to lend a hand to anyone in need. Norm loved sports, you could always find him at a field or court watching all his favorite "kids". However, there was nothing Norm loved more than to listen to his daughter Angelica sing and watch his son Lucas play sports. His legacy will live on forever in the hearts of all those who loved him.
The family will receive visitors at Gallagher Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street Stamford on Monday March 25, 2013 from 2:00 to 8:00.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00am on Tuesday March 26 at St. Leo Roman Catholic Church , 24 Roxbury Road, Stamford. I had the pleasure of knowing Norman through restaurants. He was something else! While most people got excited to see him because of his generosity, I would get excited because of the person he was. He brought a bright light of positivity and happiness when he stepped through the door, and made my night so much better. He would always talk about Mary and how they met in rhode island, and gave me hope for love, Angelica's singing and how proud he was, and how amazing Lucas was. .
