Thomas George Maker entered peacefully into rest with his family beside him, on April 13, 2016. He was 83. Born in Mount Vernon, New York on October 17, 1932, he served in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1954. After returning from service to New York, he owned and operated a luncheonette, in Mount Vernon, NY, and later worked at the Harrison Country Club. Then, he landed a position with the Stamford Trust Company (later known as Union Trust Company), where he would work for over thirty years and where he met his future wife, Rose M. Aveni. They were married in Stamford, at St. John's Roman Catholic Church, on Atlantic Street, on November 5, 1960. He would be a New Yorker living in New England, a Stamford resident for over 55 years, with his wife and family.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Rose; sons, Thomas S. Maker and Joseph A. Maker; daughter, BettyAnn Labati and son-in-law, Richard C. Labati; beloved granddaughter, Jacqueline Elizabeth Maker; kid brother, Terrence "Butch" McPartland and his wife, Phyllis; brother-in-law, Anthony B. Aveni, Sr.; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Calling hours will be at Leo P. Gallagher Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street, Stamford, CT, on Sunday, April 17, 2016, from 3pm to 7pm. A Requiem Mass will be held on Monday, April 18, 2016, at 10:00 a.m., at The Basilica of St. John the Evangelist, 279 Atlantic Street, Stamford, CT, followed by burial at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien, CT.
