Betty J. Thomas, 87, of Thomas Farms, Drums, passed away early Friday morning at Allied Services Hospice Center, Wilkes-Barres.
Born in Drums, she was the daughter of the late Joseph L. and Evelyn J. (Harlacker) Diehl.
Betty was a graduate of Hazleton High School.
On May 30, 1958, she married the love of her life, Richard K. Thomas, and shared 63 wonderful years of marriage. They lived on the farm and Betty was a homemaker to her husband and three children. As the family grew with grandchildren and great-grandchildren, their home was the gathering place for Sunday dinners, birthdays and holidays. She filled their home with happiness and love.
One of her favorite pastimes was watching the home shopping network. Her family would often tease her that every gift they received was from QVC.
Betty enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. Looking out her window, overseeing the farm with all the beautiful flowers in bloom always put a smile on her face. The memory of Betty's laughter and joy will live in hearts of many.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, in 2021; and a sister, Alice Merkel.
Betty leaves behind her loving and devoted children, daughter, Diane Thomas and partner, Ken Drum, Drums; and two sons, Robert Thomas and wife, Yvonne, Drums; and Ronald Thomas and wife, Kelly, Drums; and cherished grandchildren, Christine, Robert Jr., Briona, Amanda, Kyle; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Doris Wang and Joanne Garinger.
All services will be held privately.
