Elizabeth Hartsell Obituary
Elizabeth Hollard Hartsell, born April 2, 1951. Elizabeth was born in Alexandria, VA and attended school there. With her height at 6 foot 3 inches she played varsity girls basketball. She attended nursing school and served as a nurse for a number of years. While a young girl her grandmother taught her to knit and that became her passion as she grew older.
After an unsuccessful marriage, she met Bob Hartsell and they were married on March 25, 1995. She
was so pleased at getting a grown family and delighted in visiting them.
Bob and Elizabeth moved to Culpeper, VA., in November of 2001 and lived on Overlook Street. Elizabeth
helped form several knitting groups in the area which she enjoyed for several years. She also
demonstrated weaving at area fairs.
She had a knee replacement in 2013 and that became a problem in late 2021. It was repaired in January
and as she tried to recover, her heath gave way and she passed away on March 3, 2022.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband Bob, stepdaughter Theresa and stepdaughter Barbara with
husband Chris, stepson Will with wife Joy, step grandson Conner, step grandson Austin, Step
granddaughter Amber with husband Zak and their four children; August, Xavier, Aubrey and Ella. She
also leaves behind her beloved dog Pooh-bear.
Funeral services will be held at Horizon Funeral Home on Friday, March 11, 2022 at 12:00 PM with a
visitation starting at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Culpeper, VA.

RIP my dear friend. I have many memories of knitting, spinning, and our various adventures at yarn shops. I will miss seeing you at the various fiber festivals where we used to meet up. Or the dyeing adventure we had at Misty Mountain Farm. So many wonderful adventures! I will treasure those memories and remember all the good times we had.

I am so sorry to hear about Elizabeth's passing. I knitted with her in several groups, one especially is Close Knits. We made afghans for our military veterans. I learned a lot of tips in knitting from her. Prayers for the family. God bless.
