Aurora C. Hoare

Aurora C. Hoare (nee Russomanno) of Westfield, N.J., formerly of West Caldwell, N.J., passed away peacefully on April 13, 2014, at the age of 100.
Visiting will be held in the Paul Ippolito-Dancy Memorial, 9 Smull Ave., Caldwell, N.J., on Tuesday, April 15, from 4 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 16, beginning at 9:45 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by the Funeral Mass in St. Aloysius Church, Caldwell, at 11 a.m. The interment will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Orange, N.J. Mrs. Hoare was born in Newark, N.J., and lived in West Caldwell for 50 years before settling in Westfield. She was a very bright and determined young woman who graduated from high school at the age of 15. At 18, she met her soulmate, George Hoare, and moved to Massachusettes after they married, where they had two sons, George Jr. and Raymond.
Upon their return to New Jersey, they had two daughters, Anne and Aurora. Mrs. Hoare and her husband were committed devotees to education and exposed their children to museums and travel, and supported them toward degrees in engineering, medicine, law, and business.
When Mrs. Hoare was 51, George suddenly died and she embarked on a return to college and earned a degree in education from Montclair State University. She taught business in school and retired from the Newark school system when she was in her 80s. During her lifetime, she was active in school organizations, was secretary of the PTA, and was in community groups, serving as treasurer of the Professional Women's Club of Northern New Jersey. She was also an active member and officer of the Women's Auxiliary of St. Aloysius Church, where she was a devoted parishioner for many years.
She was the beloved wife of the late George Hoare; loving mother of Dr. Raymond R. Hoare and his wife, Dr. Carol Hoare, and Dr. Anne Koons and her husband, Dr. Lawrence Koons; cherished grandmother of seven, and great-grandmother of 12. She was predeceased by her parents, Lorenzo and Lucia Russomanno; a son, George P. Hoare, Esq.; a daughter, Aurora M. Hoare; brothers, Dr. Raymond Russomanno and Dr. Paul Russomanno, and sisters, Ida Russomanno and Lucille Molinari.
