Carol Silverman, 72, of Nutley, N.J., passed away on Oct. 10, 2019, at Mountainside Hospital, Montclair, N.J.
Born on Aug. 25, 1947, in Newark, N.J., to the late Beatrice and Irving Heyman, she attended Arts High in Newark in the 1960s and graduated from Rutgers-Newark, in 1968. Later, she worked for Rowe-Manse Emporium, of Clifton, N.J., and returned to Rutgers-Newark in the 1990s, to earn her master's degree and Ph.D. in psychology. Following that, she worked as a teaching assistant in psychology at Rutgers-Newark.
She was the mother of Annie Silverman of Asheville, N.C., and the late Josh Silverman, of Matawan, N.J., who passed away in 2011. She was also predeceased by her sister, Judith Heyman.
Carol Silverman is survived by her husband, David Silverman, of Nutley, N.J.; her daughter, Annie Silverman, of Asheville, N.C.; her granddaughter, Ruby Silverman, and daughter-in-law, Julie Cordova, of Matawan, N.J. She is also survived by her stepgrandson, Ian Cordova, of Maryland. She is survived as well by her cousins, Berta Ditillo and her husband, Tom Ditillo, of Union, N.J.; Ronnie Grossman and her husband, Joseph Kaplan, of Clark, N.J., and Steven Grossman and his wife, Audrey Grossman, of Scotch Plains, N.J., as well as nieces, Jenny-Ann Ditillo and Carly Grossman.
She is also survived by many, many dear and close friends.
